It typically matures over time to 30-40 tall and to 15-20 wide. It grows at a fast rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 40 years or more. ‘Royal Frost’ is an upright pyramidal birch featuring burgundy-red to purple foliage, showy yellow-orange to red fall color and attractive white bark. It has a low canopy with a typical clearance of 3 feet from the ground, and should not be planted underneath power lines. Royal Frost Birch will grow to be about 40 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 25 feet.
